As the sun set on the last day of my trip, I photographed this pair of Red-Crowned Cranes, Grus japonensis, as they had just left the feed grounds and were headed to the roast. These birds are so elegant and graceful; it is no wonder why these regal cranes are held to such a high place of honor in the Japanese culture.
